The Color Room

I have just joined the Color Room last week. My first submission was for the Color Palette for this week. It was due today. Here is my layout.

The Color Room has lots of talented people from all over the world & lots of gorgeous layouts. Click the link at right to go to the Color Room. Have a look at the sketches & colour palettes. They may give you some ideas for layouts.

This is the colour palette & sketch for last week. I love these sketches & colour palettes. I normally do a lot of thinking & planning (& procrastinating). It normally takes me a couple of days to do one page. With the sketches & colour palette in place I just needed to choose the photo. It all came together in a few hours.

I normally do a double page layout. I like my pages to match or at least not to clash. This is the double layout below.

These are some photos of the detail of the leaves. I used the Big Shot with the Leaves #2 die. I then curled them & inked them. Lastly I added some crystal effects to look something like rain droplets.

Fundraiser Crop Day

I went to a fundraiser crop day last Sunday. Cassie was raising money to bring a couple of girls out from Timor to Newcastle to have life saving surgery on their facial tumors. See the link below to Cassie's blog for all the details. We had a slide show of the situation in Timor. It was so sad to see the conditions they have to endure.

Here is the Scrapbook page I made on the day. The photos are of Heidi & Aaron's wedding in March. The photo on the left is of our two beautiful daughers Heidi & Brianna.

I only made one double page. I was chatting to so many people & I ate so much. I think we all enjoyed ourselves, it was such a fun day.

I taught a few classes in the afternoon. We made a gift card holder below (copyright to others). It takes a credit card size plastic gift card, or some notes, or business cards.

The animal stamps are from the Fox & Friends. The sentiments are from Picture This hostess set. The branch is from the Two Step Bird Punch. All of these items are available from the Autumn-Winter Mini Catalogue available until 31 August.

More Books

I have finished the bookbinding course. It was very interesting & creative.
Here is an A5 photo album that I made in the course. This is an A5 landscape photo album with black card pages & glassine dividers covering the photos. It has bookcloth covering the spine with oriental stitching to bind the album together. I have used the Stampin'Up! Big Shot & Sizzix Little Leaves, the Stampin'Up! 5 Petal Flower Punch & the Boho Blossoms Punch to decorate the cover.

Here is a single section A5 notebook. It has pamphlet stitching to stitch the section together & a hardcover with bookcloth on the spine to make the hinge stronger. I have used the Stampin'Up! Big Shot & Sizzix Little Leaves to put under the paper covering the hardcover. You can just see the shape of the leaves coming through the paper.

This is is the book I restored. It was a picture book of Taronga Park Zoo circa 1960. It has a hardcover covered with bookcloth. It has a hard spine with headbands on the top & bottom of the spine. I have used the Stampin'Up! Big Shot & Leaves #2 & stuck them on under the bookcloth.

Close up of headbands. The headbands protect the ends of the books spine. Most hardcover books have headbands.
